Coca-Cola officially gets into NFTs for charity

“Each NFT was created to celebrate elements that are core to the Coca-Cola brand, reinterpreted for a virtual world in new and exciting ways,” said president of the global Coca-Cola category.

The OpenSea marketplace will arrange a 3 day auction From July 30 at 12.01am UTC to August 2 at 8pm UTC for coca-cola branded NFTs.

These NFT collections, created in partnership with Tafi, the digital designer, were “inspired by video-game loot boxes”  and include  “hidden surprises” only for those who purchase the artwork. Users can place their bid on the Open Sea platform using Ether.

The “Friendship Boxes” feature a classic Coca-Cola cooler, a wearable bubble jacket which may utilized in the Ethereum-based virtual reality world Decentraland, a friendship card, and The Sound Visualizer, which interact users with similar sounds of a bottle cap popped and the fizz of a freshly-poured Coke over ice.

“We are excited to share our first NFTs with the metaverse” said Selman Careaga.

Profits from the auction are donated to Special Olympics International, said Coca-cola. The Special Olympics is the world’s biggest sports organization for children and adults with disabilities. The opening bid for the auction was not disclosed at the time of publication.

Though the famous beverage producer has rarely if ever been directly involved in the crypto and blockchain area, some of Coca-Cola’s bottling partners use decentralized ledger technology for supply chain management.
