Helium community votes to migrate to Solana, scores new T-Mobile partnership
The Helium Mobile project would be targeted at dead 5G spots to the U.S for the wireless network users.
Heliums community has voted to migrate the wireless network to layer 1 blockchain Solana.
Solana community members voted 6177 (81.41) in support of its plan while 1270 were against it.
During vote process roughly 15 million HNT tokens were staked and vote ended in the early hours of Sept 22.
According to helium developers:
the Solana migration would help scale the network and boost its adoption instead of expending resources on managing their blockchain.
The proposal passed Helium tokens HNT, IOT and MOBILE would be issued on the Solana blockchain the network will also update its wallet and user can use Solana based wallet for their HNT tokens.
Helium Mobile would be targeted at dead 5G spots in the United States for wireless network users.
According to Helium developers network subscribers could earn crypto rewards.
This project may be launched in the first quarter of 2023. and subscription plans starting from $5 per month.
