Web3 gaming developers are getting a new platform on which to build web3 games, with a partnership between Polygon Labs and Immutable.

Developers will be able to build on a new zero-knowledge Ethereum virtual machine that aims to increase ownership rights for players.

Two Ethereum layers and 2 firms create an immutable zkEVM a polygon-powered fully supported zkEVM on an immutable Web3 game development platform.

Polygon zkEVM enables the validation of mass amounts of transaction data by bundling them up into one transaction that's then confirmed on the Ethereum network.

Ryan Wyatt a Polygon Labs president express that the technology would allow game developers to focus on building a great game rather than needing to divert resources toward building the game on the chain.

"This massively simplifies the choices for developers and helps us focus on what really matters which is taking on the huge incumbents who are exploiting players ona daily basis."

Also, Robbie Ferguson a co-founder of Immutable said that billions of dollars worth of in-game skins is sold each year with no rights to players.

Also, he said that "We're changing that so players are in control and ownership is the expection"

Wyatt said that right now, devs are too focused on how to actually build a game on a chain. which pulls focus away from making a really great game.

GameFi will still need an "Earn" factor, but future GameFi projects should focus more on improving game quality. The whole point behind video gaming, be it GameFi or traditional gaming, is to create positive experiences first. Earning ought to be a secondary, not a primary goal

The test net is expected to be released at the end of the second quarter to build on the zkEVM will be launched within the March 20 will be the staking token with IMX token the core gas currency.
